Canadians living with disabilities who qualify can expect to receive their monthly benefit payments from the government next week.
The Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) provides monthly support to eligible Canadians with disabilities between the ages of 18 and 64. As for the amount you could receive, there is no fixed amount, as it depends on your adjusted family net income. This month’s payment is set to go out on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Whether you’re expecting your monthly payments or thinking of applying, here’s what you need to know.
How to apply for the CDB
Canadians who qualify would have received letters from Service Canada inviting them to submit a CDB application. The letter includes a unique six-digit code with instructions on how to apply.
However, even if you didn’t get a letter, you can still apply for the benefit if you have a spouse or common-law partner. Both of you must have filed your 2025 federal income tax returns.

To be eligible, you must be one of the following:
- A Canadian citizen
- A permanent resident
- A temporary resident who has lived in Canada throughout the previous 18 months
- A protected person
- An individual registered or entitled to be registered under the Indian Act
- You can also apply if you’re a Canadian resident between the ages of 18 and 64 who has already been approved for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC)
How much could you receive?
If you qualify, payments will start going out the month after your application is approved.
How much you get depends on several factors based on your family’s net income.
From July 2026 to June 2027, the maximum monthly benefit is $204.20. The amount is based on your adjusted family net income from your 2025 federal income tax return.
You may qualify for payments for up to 24 months from when the government receives your application. However, it doesn’t apply to any previous months of eligibility before June 2025.
Visit the CDB website for more information.
