An empowering autism spectrum conference is happening across Canada this week
The only Canadian conference in which all of the presentations are created and delivered by individuals on the autism spectrum is happening this week, and everyone is invited to the free virtual event.
Au-some Conference, hosted by Autism Canada on October 27 and 28, invites Canadians to learn about the diversity of the autism spectrum and how they can help create an inclusive environment for sharing successes.
The seventh annual event also aims to create acceptance for those on the spectrum, their caregivers, and communities.

“Autism Canada is committed to delivering the highest quality programs and community resources like the national annual Au-Some Conference,” said the charity in a statement. “Written and presented solely by those on the autism spectrum, Au-Some provides educational resources and community-building opportunities.”
There will be eight speakers presenting across the two days of the virtual conference, including autism ambassadors and advocates, a cancer survivor, artists, and more.

Topics range from “How to be a Good Autism Advocate” to “The Importance of Hobbies for Mental Health and Wellbeing,” and feature personal lived experiences from the presenters.
“The Au–Some Conference is free and presented virtually, ensuring accessibility to people across Canada,” said the organization in a statement. “It aims to educate attendees about the diverse experiences of those with autism and promote understanding and acceptance.”
