Air Canada's Aeroplan program can now get you concert and sports tickets

Members of Aeroplan, the Air Canada rewards program, already enjoy some pretty great perks, but now they can add another one to the list.
An email sent out on Tuesday states that Air Canada Aeroplan members can use their points to get tickets for live events.
“You can now redeem your Aeroplan points for tickets to live events,” states the email. “See the music artists you love in concert, your favourite sports team in action, or the hottest theatre shows that everyone’s talking about!”
To buy tickets, start by logging in to your Aeroplan account and under “Redeem” select “Live Events.” The Live Events website allows you to buy tickets worldwide, and once you set your preferred location, you’ll be able to browse available tickets for events in the area. Alternatively, you can use the search feature to search by artist, team or venue. You can choose from three event categories: sports, concerts, and theatre.

After choosing the location and date, you can select your seats, and the website will show you how many points you’ll need to redeem. The new feature also allows members the flexibility to choose their preferred payment method — you can pay for tickets entirely by redeeming Aeroplan points or by combining points with cash.
After placing your order, you’ll get a confirmation email with details about your upcoming event.
The new Live Events ticketing feature is just one of the many changes that Air Canada has announced to its Aeroplan program.
On Aug. 6, Air Canada announced that it’s changing the way members can earn points. Currently, Aeroplan members earn points based on the distance they travel. However, starting Jan. 1, 2026, members will earn points for every dollar spent on eligible Air Canada flights.
For example, if you spend $427 on base fare and carrier surcharges, you’ll earn 427 points. Taxes, fees, and any third-party charges aren’t included.
“Aeroplan has grown into one of the most rewarding and widely used travel loyalty programs,” said Scott O’Leary, vice president of loyalty and product at Air Canada.
