10 cities Canadians can visit this summer with budget-friendly flights

For Canadians still stressing over summer travel plans and trying to find a budget-friendly getaway and cheaper flights, you’re definitely not alone.
According to research by global travel app Skyscanner, high costs remain the biggest challenge for Canadians planning their trips and finding affordable flights. Thirty-nine per cent said that price and affordability are their single biggest challenge.
And if you feel like you’re behind on planning a summer getaway, you’re not the only one. A total of 61 per cent of Canadians still haven’t booked their summer vacation, 37 per cent said they’re still actively looking, while 25 per cent said they haven’t started planning yet.
As travellers look for ways to stretch their vacation budgets, Skyscanner shared several suggestions in its Smarter Summer Report to help make travel more affordable. The company says that being flexible in both destinations and travel dates can make a major difference when it comes to saving money.
One way to cut costs is by choosing to fly on Monday, the “cheapest day to travel.” And if you feel like you’re cutting it too close, you don’t have to miss out on a summer vacation. Instead, you can squeeze in a trip closer to the end of summer. According to Skyscanner, Aug. 31 to Sept. 6 is actually the cheapest week to travel this season.
“With lots of people eyeing the same places, it pays to look elsewhere,” states the report. “These cheaper, handpicked alternative summer destinations serve up similar sunshine, scenery or city vibes, often with lower prices, fewer crowds and a bit more room to explore.”
