Canadians will soon need to pay more Aeroplan points for lots of routes

Your Aeroplan points may not fly you as far as you’re used to, as the Air Canada loyalty program has updated the reward rates on many of its routes.
Air Canada recently posted its updated Aeroplan reward chart on its website, which will kick in on Monday, June 1, 2026. The chart shows how many more points certain flights will cost based on region, distance, and the type of fare.
While some members will see lower or the same reward rates on some routes, most of the redemption rate changes hike the number of Aeroplan points needed for a flight.
This is essentially a devaluation, which is when loyalty programs increase the points needed to redeem rewards, reducing the points’ value. So, starting in June, you won’t be able to buy as much with the Aeroplan points you’ve saved up.
Here are the new reward rates for routes within and between North America and other regions, based on the median points.

It’s important to note that dynamic pricing is applied to Air Canada flights, while fixed rates are applied to flights operated by partner airlines.
Reward rates for travel within North America will remain unchanged on partner-operated flights, while flyers will see rate variation on Air Canada-operated flights due to dynamic pricing. The same goes for flights between North America and South America.
For more details, you can take a look at the current reward chart and the new reward chart.
Earlier this month, Air Canada also hiked its checked baggage fees.
