A fresh new season of Food Network’s ode to the best in local eating, “You Gotta Eat Here,” fires up on February 26, and there are three Calgary restaurants that take the spotlight in the upcoming episodes.
Host John Catucci has his plaid shirt and fork at the ready to dive in an explore some of the city’s most beloved (and meat-centric) eats.
YGEH hits up The Palomino in downtown for chef Arlen’s killer Kansas City-style BBQ, where Catucci feasts on ribs, pulled pork mac and cheese, and a smoked Texas style beef brisket.
Over at the Oak Tree Tavern, Catucci cozies up to some comfort food classics, including their signature Applewood Smoked Cheddar burger with grilled apples. (See, burgers can be good for you!)

And even though Calgary is cow town, Catucci makes sure to find the bacon at The Pig & Duke, where he gets the lowdown on their bacon-wrapped meatloaf with bacon bits inside, served with mashed potatoes (topped with bacon, of course).
