You can celebrate Nic Cage's birthday tonight at this party in Calgary

Forget New Year’s Eve — this is the party of the year.

For anyone who’s been living under a rock for the last 56 years and doesn’t know the significance of January 7, let us educate you: Today is movie superstar Nicolas Cage’s 56th birthday!

Yes, yes, an obvious cause for celebration, we know.

Luckily enough for us Calgarians, a local group has organized a truly exciting celebration of the man, the myth, the legend.

While the movie star won’t actually be in attendance, those who do show up for the festivities will enjoy prizes, celebratory drinks, and four big screens “filled with the best of Nic Cage freak outs.”

Admission is free, and the event is expected to run well into the night, closing out the Oak Tree Lounge at 2 am.

According to the event’s Facebook page, all anyone has to do to partake in the festivities is show up to celebrate “surrounded by fellow Nic Cage honourary fan club members.”

Organizers have also been taking movie recommendations to play during the festivities, with apparent attendees suggesting everything from National Treasure to The Wicker Man. 

The party starts at 6 pm sharp.
