In an advisory from Alberta Parks posted Tuesday, it states that the cougar is feeding on a carcass in the area.

It is also warned that bears can be encountered at any time in Kananaskis Country, and that it is best to abide by the Alberta Park’s guidelines to lessen the chances of encountering dangerous wildlife.

Their website states it is important to travel in groups, make lots of noise, listen for dangerous animals, keep pets on a leash, carry bear spray, and to learn about cougar and bear safety on their website or at WildSmart.

Alberta Parks also urges anyone who spots a cougar to call 403-591-7755 to report it immediately.
