WowFest Magic Arts Festival brings affordable amazement to Calgary

Was there anything more awe-inducing than watching a magic show when you were a kid? WowFest Magic Arts Festival aims to bring that special feeling of wonder to both adults and children alike with its series of hour-long shows that kick off on March 2 in Calgary.

Now in its fourth year, WowFest is committed to showcasing Canadian talent and brings in entertainers from Alberta and across the country in a variety disciplines such as grand illusion, mystery, and comedy. Amongst the featured performers this year is juggler Jason Melnychuk, whose traditional Las Vegas-style act includes knife juggling and rola bola.

With so many Calgary families being negatively affected by the economic downturn, WowFest has offered people the choice to choose the price of the normally $15 tickets to ensure that everyone can attend the show at a cost they can afford. The organizers are also encouraging the spread of goodwill by asking festival-goers to donate a non-perishable item to the Calgary Food Bank. 25% of proceeds from the festival’s Amazing Magic Show will benefit the Inglewood Music and Arts School.
