A Twitch streamer in Calgary is in hot water after allegedly abusing her child while filming herself playing video games on the live streaming website.

The Calgary Police Service issued a release on Tuesday stating that the woman had been arrested and charged after police were notified of the situation by a number of tips from the public.

It is alleged that the woman had slapped, pushed, and bitten her 14-month-old son, according to the release.

When police arrived at the Calgary residence, they found a woman, a man, and two children. The children have since been taken to a safe location following the arrest of the woman.

“We want to thank the public and the media for bringing this video to our attention,” said Child Abuse Unit Staff Sgt. Peter Siegenthaler in the release.

“When you find a video such as this online, it is very important that you report it to police, and not just share it throughout social media platforms. In this case, we were able to act swiftly to locate the children to ensure their wellbeing, thanks to those who quickly reported the video.”

The 31-year-old woman’s identity will not be released in an effort to protect the identity of the child. She faces one count of assault and is expected in court on Friday, January 17.
