Community transformation doesn’t happen in isolation – it’s built through collaboration, not just during the holiday season, but every day of the year.

In today’s times, as we navigate the cost of living and rising challenges, it’s important to come together — supporting our neighbours, building resilience, and uplifting one another.

The partnership between ATCO Energy and Women in Need Society (WINS) is a powerful example of what happens when good intentions meet the willingness to show up for our community.

Founded in 1992, WINS supports the potential of women and families by providing the resources they need to thrive, whether through opportunities to gain new skills, build confidence, or access support.

In 2024, WINS has connected 27,000 individuals in Calgary with the help they need, and they have no intention of slowing down.

The longstanding collaboration between WINS and ATCO Energy is based on the two organizations’ aligned values of building resilience through connection, support, and opportunity.

Lighting the way

Over the years, ATCO Energy employees have contributed over 1,000 volunteer hours, hosted annual in-kind drives and events, and held energy education sessions to help families make informed decisions.

And this year, they’re upping the ante as the official energy supplier of WINS. This means that from Oct. 2025 to Sept. 2027, ATCO Energy is supplying the energy for all seven WINS retail and donation locations. To put it in perspective, that’s estimated to amount to over $120,000 in financial support.

These two organizations are literally lighting the way toward a stronger and more resilient community.

In addition, this expanded partnership will also see ATCO Energy offer exclusive energy discounts for WINS families, host WINS’ International Women’s Day events at Blue Flame Kitchen, support Neighbour Day celebrations, lead holiday toy drives, and continue the employee volunteering and donation campaigns.

Good intentions are one thing, but acting on them is how real change is made. If you share these values of sustainability, community impact, and neighbourhood resilience, you can get involved by volunteering, donating gently used goods, making a financial contribution, or supporting WINS programs. Every contribution helps build a stronger, more compassionate city.
