Victim identified in Friday's fatal Eau Claire shooting

The Calgary Police Service has released more information on last Friday’s fatal shooting.

According to a release from CPS, 29-year-old Benjamin Virtucio was killed after being shot in the underground parkade of the Eau Claire Market at around 8:10 pm on June 5.

Police arrested and charged one man, 26-year old Abdullahi Barakobe, with second-degree murder and kidnapping in relation to the incident, though they believe that two other suspects remain at large.

According to the most recent release, “the first suspect is described as a man in his 20s, with light-brown skin tone, black hair, short in stature, with a medium build and wearing a white hoodie. The second suspect is described as a black man, tall, with a slim build, wearing a hoodie.”

Police are also seeking information about a white Mercedes car that may be a C400 class that had been seen in the Eau Claire area at the time of the shooting.
