Calgary’s first 100% vegetarian Punjabi takeout restaurant, Veggie King, is officially open.
The new 49 Savanna Boulevard NE eatery greeted its first customers recently, offering them a selection of plant-based lunch and dinner eats and breakfast on weekends.

Veggie King has a menu full of appetizers like pakoras and chaat, along with hearty mains such as burgers and Hakka-style eats (a blend of Indian and Chinese cuisine).
There’s also platters and vegetarian curries, rotis, and naan, to name a few of the other dishes.
When it comes to beverage there’s a handful of lassi drinks up for order.
Veggie King is takeout only and it’s open daily (except for Thursdays) from 4 to 10 pm. The breakfast menu is available Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm.
