University of Calgary football player is also a Gucci runway model

Gavin Weiss is a young man with many talents.

The Calgary native played his freshman season as a running back with the University of Calgary Dinos in 2025. He suited up for all eight games of the season, gaining three yards on six rushing attempts. He also had one reception for 19 yards.

While those stats don’t jump off the page, they aren’t at all uncommon for first-year students, who often struggle to find playing time. Those totals should increase in the coming seasons.

That said, if things don’t work out for Weiss moving forward on the football field, he may have another career to turn to.

Over the weekend, Weiss, who has modelled in the past, did a model walk at Gucci’s Fall 2026 Fashion Show in Milan. He was rocking some shiny jeans along with a slick black collared t-shirt.

“I just did a model walk for Gucci. I had on a pretty nice compression shirt, and I had on these glossy-looking jeans. It’s pretty tough,” Weiss said shortly after his showing.

“I play for the University of Calgary. I play football there. They train me there, and I’m training to be a running back.”

Weiss’s appearance at the fashion show was a hit, as many flooded social media to applaud his performance.

“A football player walking in fashion week? I love this actually,” one user commented on Instagram.

It isn’t often that we find athletes of this calibre who also model to this extent. That makes Weiss an individual to keep an eye out for both on the football field and at other potential modelling exhibits.
