In a move no one saw coming, especially Canada, US President Donald Trump tweeted words of support for NAFTA.
After lashing out at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau onĀ TwitterĀ and calling him āvery dishonestā and āweak,ā the US President seems happy with Canada again.
And the reason for Trump’s surprising delight? Sports.
On Wednesday, it was officially confirmed that the United Bid, which includes Canada, Mexico, and the US, would be hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026.
According toĀ Canada Soccer, todayās vote marks the first time three nations have been selected to co-host a FIFA World Cup and the first time the FIFA World Cup will be played in North America in 32 years.
The U.S., together with Mexico and Canada, just got the World Cup. Congratulations – a great deal of hard work!

“The US, together with Mexico and Canada, just got the World Cup,” the President tweeted. “Congratulations – a great deal of hard work.”
Interesting, considering he seems to admit to hard work in terms of sports, with the same countries that he is constantly complaining about when it comes to NAFTA.
You know, the same countries he called “very difficult.”
We are in the NAFTA (worst trade deal ever made) renegotiation process with Mexico & Canada. Both being very difficult, may have to terminate?

Days ago, he called Trudeau “very dishonest and weak.”
PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, āUS Tariffs were kind of insultingā and he āwill not be pushed around.ā Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!

And he still wants a wall built between the US and Mexico…
….The Wall will be paid for, directly or indirectly, or through longer term reimbursement, by Mexico, which has a ridiculous $71 billion dollar trade surplus with the U.S. The $20 billion dollar Wall is āpeanutsā compared to what Mexico makes from the U.S. NAFTA is a bad joke!

Trump’s supportive Wednesday tweet left us confused.
Wait I thought you said those two countries were awful

How will Mexico play when you wall them off from the rest of the continent?

Someone may want to remind Trump that Mexico and Canada are part of NAFTA…
