Prime minister in self-isolation after Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau shows flu-like symptoms
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in self-isolation after Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau began experiencing “mild flu-like symptoms.”
According to a statement from Trudeau’s office, the prime minister’s wife had recently returned from a speaking engagement in London, UK, on Wednesday night when she experienced a low fever.
“She immediately sought medical advice, and is being tested for the COVID-19 virus,” reads the statement, adding that Grégoire-Trudeau is self-isolating at home awaiting test results.
Trudeau has also been advised to self-monitor, “given he is exhibiting no symptoms himself.”
But, out of caution, the prime minister is self-isolating and working from home until Grégoire-Trudeau’s results.
Trudeau will spend his workday in “briefings, phone calls, and virtual meetings from home” including speaking with leaders and joining a special coronavirus cabinet committee discussion.
