Wildrose leader, Brian Jean along with other Canadians aren’t having any of what Prime Minister Trudeau said today about future plans for Canadian oilsands while speaking in Peterborough, Ontario.
Trudeau was asked about his government’s approval of pipelines and his commitment to the environment, questioning the Liberal governments policies are on climate change, global warming and pipelines.
Trudeau responded with “We can’t shut down the oil sands tomorrow. We need to phase them out. We need to manage the transition off … fossil fuels,” shocking Albertans and causing quite the stir on social media.
Jean, posted the following video on his Facebook page captioning that Trudeau will “have to go though me[him] and four million Albertans first.”
Candidate for Leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada, Andrew Scheer used the opportunity to stake his claim against Trudeau using the hashtag #PhaseHimOut in his tweet about the PM’s position on oilsands.
“We can’t shut down the oilsands tomorrow. We need to phase them out.” — PM Trudeau
No, Mr. Trudeau.

Edmontonian, Andrew Leach put the comment into perspective for Canadians living in Ontario and Quebec.
So, if you’re in ON or QC, consider how it’s easier to hear PM say “we’re going to phase out fossil fuels” vs “phase out prodn of gas cars”

More comments on twitter are pouring in over the comment. Trudeau will be making his way to Alberta later this month on his national tour.
Trudeau, 2016: no country in the world would leave billions of barrels of oil in the ground. Trudeau, 2017: we must phase out the oil sands.

You can’t speak of phasing out the oilsands while approving two pipelines, Trudeau. #cdnpoli https://t.co/Re6NeTRzmO

“@PremierBradWall: Earlier today @JustinTrudeau said we need to ‘phase out the oilsands’. Really? #NEP2.0″. Justin Trudeau is clearly mad!
