The months-long pipeline dispute may finally come to an end this Sunday.
After weeks of increasing tension between the BC and Alberta provincial governments – most recently seen in Kinder Morgan halting all non-essential spending on the Trans Mountain Expansion due to pushback from BC – Rachel Notley and John Horgan may finally work things out in a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday.
Horgan was quick to accept Trudeau’s request for the meeting, making an announcement on Twitter Thursday morning.
I will be meeting with Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau and Premier @RachelNotley this coming Sunday in Ottawa. I’ll be there to represent BC, our coast and economy.

Trudeau also recently released a video defending his position on the pipeline expansion, featuring voices from Ocean Networks Canada and BC Coast Pilots.
“I wouldn’t approve major pipeline projects if I wasn’t confident they could be done safely,” he wrote in the Thursday morning tweet.
“And they can be done safely because we’ve made a massive investment in protecting our oceans and coastlines – in BC and across the country.”

Trudeau will be interrupting his nine-day, international trip for the meeting with the premiers, stopping by Ottawa between travelling to Lima, Peru from April 12 to 14 and Paris, France from April 15 to 17.
The Prime Minister will then be visiting London, England from April 17 to 20, according to an April 4 release.
Update – I’ll be coming back from the summit in Peru this weekend to meet with Premiers Horgan and Notley in Ottawa, where we’ll discuss the next steps for moving the TMX pipeline project forward. https://t.co/Va9oi5E9Xd
