Expo Latino 2015 Festival

  • What: Western Canada’s largest outdoor Latin festival will feature world class performances, exotic foods, shopping and dance. This festival has something for everyone.
  • Where: Prince’s Island Park
  • When: Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 30
  • Cost: Early Bird Adult Day Pass is $25, Weekend Pass is $35, Seniors/Youth Day Pass is $10


  • What: This year’s 6th Global Fest will be showcasing Calgary’s cultural diversity and artistic excellence, and will include a fireworks finale.
  • Where: Elliston Park – corner of 17th Avenue and 60th Street SE
  • When: Saturday, August 29 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m
  • Cost: $20 to $45

Calgary Pride

  • What: Calgary Pride is in partnership with a number of communities and groups resulting in an entire week of events that celebrate equality and acceptance of Calgary’s LGBTQA community.

  • When: Saturday, August 28 to Monday, September 7

Kensington Summertime Outdoor Movies

  • What: Bring a chair and enjoy favourite regional and local films under the stars every Saturday. My Prairie Home is playing this week.
  • Where: Purr Parking Lot – 1210 Kensington Road NW, Calgary
  • When: Saturday, August 29 at 9:30 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

Market Collective

  • What: Celebrate Market Collective’s birthday by supporting local art and culture. One may purchase art, photography, accessories, jewelry and more.
  • Where: East Village RiverWalk – 5th Street and Confluence Way SE, Calgary
  • When: Friday, August 28 from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Cost: Entire weekend is $5 and kids are free

Calgary BMX Racing Track: Calgary Canada Cup & Provincial 7 & 8

  • What: Calgarians and international riders will be competing in hopes to qualify for the Calgary Rio Olympic games.

Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association Saturday Farmers’ Market Launch

  • What: These markets will be every Saturday rain or shine. They strive for quality food and goods that are produced from local farmers, food creators and artisans.
  • Where: Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association – 1320 5 Ave NW, Calgary
  • When: now to Saturday, September 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Disney’s The Lion King Calgary 2015 at Southern Jubilee Auditorium

  • What: Travel to the African savanna to marvel at the jumping gazelles, swooping birds, majestic lions and more in the Broadway musical. Listen to the unforgettable songs, like “The Circle of Life”, and the incredible vocalists and musicians producing them.
  • Where: Southern Jubilee Auditorium – 1415, 14 Avenue NW Calgary
  • When: Now through September 6, Tuesday to Saturday 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 6:30 p.m. Matinee Performances Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Race for Pace

  • What: Race to raise awareness for Pacekids charity that provides family orientated therapeutic and active learning programs tailored for infants, children and youth with special needs.

  • Cost: $20 youth and $40 adult

Dr. For Moms 5K Walk & Run

  • What: The 2nd annual 5k walk and run, Dr. For Moms, is a Fundraiser run to support natural and perinatal care and support for women and families through the stages of motherhood.
  • Where: North Glenmore Park
  • When: Sunday, August 30 at 9 p.m.
  • Cost: $20 to $40

Tour of Alberta: Ride the Rode Tour

  • What: Take out your bicycle in traffic-free conditions and feel completely safe on the roads. There are 4 different rides that you can enjoy. There are also rides for kids.

Inner-City underground Market

  • What: The market is full of a variety of vendors and its growing fast. Come and explore, it’s a great way to meet new people and try new things.
