Festival of Crafts

  • What: Known as one of Canada’s largest holiday handcrafted shopping events, Festival of Crafts runs four days showcasing items from fashion to gourmet treats from over 250 talented artisans, artists and designers.
  • Where: BMO Centre at Stampede Park – 20 Roundup Way SW
  • When: Now until November 29; Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Cost: $7 for adults, $5 for youths aged 13 to 17 and seniors, and free for children under 12

Banff Craft Beer Festival

  • What: Alberta Beer Festivals is introducing the first ever Banff Festival at the Cave and Basin. Each ticket gives you a four ounce sample mug and grants you access to the event.
  • Where: Cave and Basin – 311 Cave Avenue, Banff
  • When: Friday, November 27 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday November 28 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Cost: Starts at $29

ACAD’s Show and Sale Weekend Market

  • What: This semi-annual retail event showcases student work from several ACAD programs such as painting, drawing, ceramic, fibre, printmaking, jewellery, etc. Proceeds support the students.
  • Where: ACAD Main Mall – 1407, 14th Avenue NW
  • When:  Friday, November 27 from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday, November 28 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Cost: Donation

Annual Holiday Market and Book Sale

  • What: Check out TRUCK Gallery’s second annual Holiday Market and Book sale, where you can purchase handcrafted artisanal products created by some of Calgary’s most talented artists.
  • Where: TRUCK Main Space – 2009 10 Avenue SW
  • When: Friday, November 27 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday, November 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Cost: Free; accepting donations of art books in good conditions

The Ranch Christmas Market

  • What: Symons Valley Ranch will be hosting The Ranch Christmas Market where there will be plenty of vendors to go and enjoy. A free skating rink will be available for visitors if the weather permits.
  • Where: Symons Valley Ranch – 14555 Symons Valley Road NW, Calgary
  • When: Friday November 27 to Sunday, November 29
  • Cost: Free

Market Collective: Holiday Dates

  • What: Market Collective will be showcasing a roster of artists and musicians during each weekend and you can follow them on social media.
  • Where: Chinese Cultural Centre – 197 1 Street SW
  • When: Friday, November 27 to Sunday, November 29 and runs in December as well; Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Cost: $5; Free for kids

Lakmé

  • What: The Calgary Opera presents Lakmé a story of a Hindu Priestess who goes against her own father to be with a British officer whom she fell in love with.
  • Where: Southern Jubilee – 1415 14 Avenue NW
  • When: Wednesday, November 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, November 27 at 8 p.m.
  • Cost: Varies

Zoolights at Calgary Zoo

  • What: Incredible lights illuminate the Calgary Zoo in almost every colour imaginable. Along with beautiful scenery you can skate on their skating rink, visit Santa, do kids activities and watch the Calgary Zoo’s new interactive light display.
  • Where: Calgary Zoo – 1300 Zoo Road NE, Calgary
  • When: Friday, November 27 to Saturday, January 2 from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Cost: $14 for general admission, $11 for children, and $5 for parking.

Calgary Hitmen vs Regina Pats

  • What: Calgary Hitmen face the Regina Pats.
  • Where: Scotiabank Saddledome
  • When: Friday, November 27 at 7 p.m.
  • Cost: Varies

Lake Louise Alpine Ski World Cup

  • What: The Canadian Alpine Ski Team competes at the Lake Louise Ski Resort, amongst the Canadian Rockies. The Lake Louise Alpine Ski World Cup is the only world cup, outside of Europe, to join the ranks of the famous Club 5 Ski Classics.
  • Where: Lake Louise, AB
  • When: Saturday, November 28 to Sunday, December 6

Charlie Brown’s Christmas featuring Jerry Granelli’s trio

  • What: Listen to the original score of A Charlie Brown Christmas performed by renowned drummer Jerry Granelli, the only surviving member of the Vince Guaraldi Trio who had written as well as performed A Charlie Brown Christmas’ soundtrack.
  • Where: Central United Church – 131 7 Avenue SW, Calgary
  • When: Saturday, November 28 at 2 p.m.

The Polar Express Train Ride

  • What: Be whisked away on the Polar Express where passengers will get to drink hot chocolate, eat treats and listen to the motion pictures sound track. Passengers on the train are encouraged to wear pajamas.
  • Where: Aspen Crossing 1 km west of Mossleigh on Highway 24, Mossleigh
  • When: Saturday, November 28 to Thursday, December 24, on select dates.

Shop the Neighbourhood

  • What: This free national initiative is aimed at helping locals to support their neighbourhoods by purchasing locally.
  • Where: Various venues
  • When: November 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

DogFest and Christmas Marketplace

  • What: Let your dog have fun during the holidays too at DogFest, where there will be events like Doggy PlayDate and Christmas Marketplace, which will be full of vendors that sell items like doggy winter jackets, specialty leashes and more. Your pet can also get their Holiday portrait done while you are there.
  • Where: Montgomery Community Association – ​5003 16 Avenue NW
  • When: Sunday, November 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Cost: Free for humans, and $10 for dogs

Lougheed House Christmas

  • What: Lougheed House will be filled to the brim with holiday decor designed by the Calgary Design Group and Eisenbergs’ Fine Furniture. During the weekends the house will also feature performances, crafts, and live music.
  • Where: Lougheed House, 202-13 Avenue SW, Calgary
  • When: Now through until Sunday, December 20
  • Cost: Free to $8.50

Nativity in the City

  • What: The production “Nativity on the Square” involves the combination of storytelling and music, with traditional characters.
  • Where: Engineered Air Theatre at the Arts Commons – 200 block of 9 Avenue SE
  • When: November 25 to 29, Wednesday to Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.
