Light Up Okotoks

  • What: Kicking off the holiday season with Santa, wagon rides, sugar shack, ice sculpture demos, cookie decorating, craft sale, late night shopping and more.
  • Where: Downtown Okotoks – Elizabeth Street, McRae Street, and North Railway Street to Lineham Avenue
  • When: Friday, November 20 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Dance Montage

  • What: Creates opportunities for both beginning and experienced dance artists to reach out to the community and provide a wide spectrum of dance styles, forms and practices.
  • Where: University of Calgary – 2500 University Dr NW
  • When: Thursday, November 19 to 20 at 8 p.m. and November 21 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Cost:  $15 for adults; $10 for students/ seniors

Calgary Flames vs Chicago Blackhawks

  • What: The Calgary Flames face the Chicago Blackhawks.
  • Where: Scotiabank Saddledome – 555 Saddledome Rise SE
  • When: Friday, November 20 at 7 p.m.
  • Cost: Varies

Mightyfools with Guests

  • What: Party to performances by the Mightyfools and their guests. Must be 18 and over to attend this event. Complimentary entry is offered until 11 p.m. to ticket holders.
  • Where: Marquee Beer Market & Stage – 4630 Macleod Trail S
  • When: November 20 at 9 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

CRR Edworthy EC (8K, 4K and Other)

  • What: Combines the essential ingredients of “real running” where there will be varied terrain, natural surfaces and lots of food.
  • Where: Edworthy Park – 5050 Spruce Dr SW
  • When: Saturday, November 21
  • Cost: $12, $6 Students, and $6 for children

First Annual Winter Hafla

  • What: Enjoy Egyptian performances, finger foods and dancing during this Winter Hafla, which means “get-together” or “party” in Arabic.
  • Where: West Village Theatre – 2007 10 Avenue SW
  • When: Saturday, November 21 at 5 p.m.; Dance floor entry starting at 10 p.m.
  • Cost: $30; $10 for the dance only

Cochrane Light Up

  • What: Cochrane Light Up is a completely volunteer-driven annual event that boasts bright lights, music and a fun time.
  • Where: Historic Main Street in Cochrane
  • When: Saturday, November 21 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker

  • What: The Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker ballet has been a Christmas Tradition in North America since 1993 and is the perfect occasion to get the family together.
  • Where: Jack Singer Concert Hall – 205 8 Ave SE, Calgary
  • When: Saturday, November 21 at 3 p.m.

Lakme

  • What: The Calgary Opera presents Lakme a story of a Hindu Priestess who goes against her own father to be with a British officer whom she fell in love with.
  • Where: Southern Jubilee – 1415 14 Avenue NW
  • When: Saturday, November 21 at 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, November 27 at 8 p.m.

Heritage Park’s Once Upon a Christmas

  • What: Get into the spirit of Christmas by taking a wagon ride, singing carols and visiting Santa. Perhaps decorating gingerbread cookies or visiting the petting zoo is more your style, there are plenty of activities to do at this ongoing traditional Christmas event.

  • When: Saturday, November 21 to Sunday, December 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Cost: $10.50; $8.25 Senior (65+); $6.50 Youth ( 7 to 14); $5.25 Child (3 to 6) and free for ages 2 and under

Between shadow + light

  • What: Like shoes? Swing by to see the new pieces in time for the gift giving season.
  • Where: John Fluevog Shoes – 207 8 Avenue SW
  • When: Saturday, November 21 at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Bon Appétit Banff

  • What: More than 30 exceptional restaurants in Banff and Lake Louise will offer unique three-course menus, which includes three options per course.

Marda Loop Justice Film Festival

  • What: Sharing human rights, environmental, and socially significant documentaries is what this Film Festival specializes at.

  • What: Calgary Hitmen face the Everett Silvertips on November 21 and then the face the Saskatoon Blades on November 22.
