REMAX Ski with Santa

  • What: Bring your toboggan and visit with Santa. Hot dogs, pizza, hot chocolate and cookies will be available too.

Mountain Made ‘The Market Before Christmas’

  • What: Right before Christmas a market in Canmore will be selling crafts, arts, photography, jewellery, pottery, soap, candies, and more.
  • Where: Elevation Place – 700 Railway Ave, Canmore
  • When: Saturday, December 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.


The Ugliest, Sweatiest Ugly Sweater Party

  • What: Wear your ugliest sweater and get sweaty at the Blink Beggar Pub with live music from the Grand Larsony, The Jingles, Nova Scotiables and The North Sound.
  • Where: Blink Beggar Pub  4608MacLeod Trail SW
  • When: Saturday, December 19 at 9 p.m.

Calgary Hitmen games

  • What: The Calgary Hitmen play the Medicine Hat Tigers.
  • Where: Scotiabank Saddledome

Viessmann Luge World Cup 2015 and Fédération Internationale de Luge de Course (FIL) Sprint World Cup 2015

  • What: Watch Luge athletes compete to win in different categories. While the Viessmann Luge World Cup is occurring on December 19 there will also be another event, WinSport’s Christmas at the track, which includes seeing Santa, sleigh rides, a petting zoo and more.
  • Where: Luge Track at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park – 323, 151 Canada Olympic Road SW
  • When: Friday, December 18 to Saturday, December 19
  • Cost: Free on December 18, $15 for a family or $10 for an individual on December 19 ($5 off if you bring a lightly used jacket).

Market Collective: Holiday Dates

  • What: Market Collective will be showcasing a roster of artists and musicians during the weekend and you can follow them along on social media.
  • Where: Chinese Cultural Centre – 197 1 Street SW
  • When: December 18 to 20; Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 6 p.m.
  • Cost: $5, and free for kids

The Nutcracker by Jeunesse Ballet

  • What: A ballet that is performed in two-acts about a little girl and her adventures and is open to your own interpretation, come and enjoy, The Nutcracker.
  • Where: University Theatre and Vertigo Theatre, Calgary
  • When: December 18, 19, and 20; Various times, check schedule
  • Cost: $10 to $45

Naughty but Nice!

  • What: A returning comedy show with new songs and sketches. It features characters like Elf on the Shelf and Brendan the Brown-Nosed Reindeer.
  • Where: Lunchbox Theatre – 115 9 Avenue SE
  • When: Now until December 20; Tuesday to Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Heritage Park’s Once Upon a Christmas

  • What: Get into the spirit of Christmas by taking a wagon ride, singing carols and visiting Santa. Perhaps decorating gingerbread cookies or visiting the petting zoo is more your style, there are plenty of activities to do at this ongoing traditional Christmas event.
  • Where: Heritage Park – 1900 Heritage Drive SW
  • When: Now until Sunday, December 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Weekends only
  • Cost: $10.50, $8.25 Senior (65+), $6.50 Youth ( 7 to 14), $5.25 Child (3 to 6) and free for ages 2 and under


Festive Feasting

  • What: Learn how to ace the classic holiday dinner at this kitchen party, such as how to make a prawn cocktail, turkey, sage and onion stuffing, roast potato, and more.
  • Where: The Paintbox Lodge – 629 10 St, Canmore
  • When: Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Cost: $75

Spirit in the Mountain

  • What: Spirit in the Mountain, presented by Canmore Cave Tours, will get you into the spirit of Christmas. Be lead by your expert guides through the passages of Rats Nest Cave and be under ground for roughly 2 hours at this 4.5 hour event.
  • Where: Canmore Cave Tours – 129 Bow Meadows Crescent, Canmore
  • When: Friday, December 18 to Tuesday, December 22 at 6 p.m.
  • Cost: $155 for adults, $136 for youth

The Nutcracker by the Alberta Ballet

  • What: Join the adventure about a little girl who gets a nutcracker for Christmas through the beautiful and graceful Alberta Ballet.
  • Where: Jubilee Auditorium – 1415 14 Ave NW

Zoolights at Calgary Zoo

  • What: Incredible lights illuminate the Calgary Zoo in almost every colour imaginable. Along with beautiful scenery you can skate on their skating rink, visit Santa, do kids activities and watch the Calgary Zoo’s new interactive light display.
  • Where: Calgary Zoo – 1300 Zoo Road NE
  • When: Now until Saturday, January 2 from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Cost: $14 for general admission, $11 for children, and $5 for parking.

A Christmas Carol by Theatre Calgary

  • What: A festive classic, Theatre Calgary brings the Charles Dickens’ novel to life just in time for the holiday season.
  • Where: 240 9th Avenue SE
  • When: Now until Thursday, December 24 at 2 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.
  • Cost: Tickets starting at $57

Airdrie Festival of Lights

  • What: Celebrate 20 years of Airdrie’s Festival of Lights. You can walk around and marvel at the different light displays, go skating, and the kids can ride on a little train.
