Picnic in the Village Calgary 2016

  • What: YYCFoodTrucks is hosting Picnic in Calgary’s East Village. More than 15 food trucks will be in attendance at this year’s event serving up a plethora of food.

Calgary International Children’s Festival

Ginapalooza Calgary

  • What: The second annual gin-centric celebration is back giving you a chance to sample a variety of gin-inspired cocktails carefully crafted for the event.

Fair Tales Film Festival

  • What: The annual LGBTQA film festival returns with events guaranteed to provoke, challenge, and entertain.

Farm Safety Day

  • What: This one day educational program welcomes Grade 6 to 9 classes increase their awareness and understanding of rural and farm safety.

The Royal Canadian Circus Spectac!

  • What: The Royal Canadian Circus SPECTAC! returns to Calgary for two weekends of family fun. May 20 to 23 (at Spruce Meadows) and May 26 to June 5 (at Crossroads Furniture Mart).

New Universe at the DJD Dance Centre

  • What: Dancers at Calgary’s new DJD (Decidedly Jazz Danceworks) Dance Centre are celebrating its grand opening with a new live music and dance production. The new show will showcase the whole DJD company of dancers and feature a score by New York jazz great William Parker, as well as a five-piece band led by Parker himself.

  • When: Friday, May 27 to Sunday, June 12, evening performances at 8 p.m.,

Market Collective

  • What: From art, to clothing, to woodworking, this market sells everything your little local-loving heart could possible desire. The Market Collective aims to engage and empower the community towards positive growth.

Ella

  • What: A twist on the classic tale of Cinderella. Cowtown Opera presents its opera Ella. Instead of going to a ball, she’s going to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo. Enjoy the love story told in modern day with a fun sic-fi twist.

Banff Yoga Festival

  • What: The first ever, Banff Yoga Festival is taking place this weekend. The 3 day festival incorporates the mindfulness of yoga into all elements of our lives. Take part in yoga classes, hiking adventures and cultural and social interaction.

Festival of Quilts at Heritage Park

  • What: The 21st Annual Festival of Quilts at Heritage park is Western Canada’s largest outdoor quilt show. You can browse through the quilts, sign up for workshops and donate quilts for distribution to those affected by the fire in Fort McMurray.

Bridgeland Cultura Festival

  • What: Bridgeland Cultura Festival is back, showcasing one of Calgary’s best neighbourhoods for a second year. The free festival will run all day long, filling 1 Avenue between 8 and 9 street NE.

Scotiabank Calgary Marathon

  • What: The Scotiabank Calgary Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier and is 42.195 kilometres or 26.2 miles long. There are over 15,000 people expected to participate this year so register soon.
  • Where: All race-day activities will start and finish in Stampede Park

Body Worlds Vital

  • What: Celebrating the human body in its healthy, vibrant, and optimal self. Body Worlds is one of the first showcases to provide human specimens on display.
