The Mustard Seed needs help this year as donations are down again

Donations to The Mustard Seed have been down again this year and there is urgent need for hygiene and food hamper supplies.

Things like thermal socks, toques, scarves, gloves and underwear; hygiene items like toothbrushes, deodorant and disposable razors; and supplies for food hampers.

The shortage is  due to the increasing number of people seeking help at emergency shelters. Generally donations during the holidays usually replenish the shelter for the majority of the year but last year the Mustard Seed didn’t receive as much as usual and this year donations are down again.

“When a guest arrives and we are out of things like underwear or toothbrushes, it causes frustration and pain. It can add to their feelings of hopelessness especially over the holidays which is a particularly tough time of year for people living in poverty,” said Sorting Centre Coordinator with The Mustard Seed, Trudi Marx.

Donations will be accepted at all Calgary London Drugs locations until December 24, 2016.
