Now open: The Mission brings casual dining to 4th Street

Dec 19 2017, 10:50 am

The Mission, 4th Street’s newest social gathering house is now open for business. Officially opening its doors to the public on December 1, the 100-seat open-concept venue is home to a shiny (well-stocked) bar, cozy booths, family-style tables, a private dining room, worn timber furnishings, polished concrete floors, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Located at 1919 4th Street SW, the restaurant takes the place of Candela Lounge, and offers patrons approachable dishes, handcrafted cocktails, and specially selected wines and beers.

The menu, which has been crafted by Executive Chef Kevin Hill and Chef de Cuisine Sterling Cummings, is comprised of small and large plates, featuring Canadian favourites and subtle Asian fusion. Diners can expect to see a list of enticing and comforting eats, like Pork Belly Croquettes, Maple Hill Chicken Wings, Cured Salmon Tartare, “The Mission” burger, Brome Lake Duck leg, and more.

Brought to life by Jeff Hines and Patrick Hill, both who are behind the popular tequila bar and Mexican restaurant Anejo, as well as Joe Gregory, who owns Tavern 1883 in Canmore, The Mission hopes to be a fun, casual, local, and comfortable spot for Calgarians to dine and drink.
