Tessa Virtue, Scott Moir will be in Calgary for one of their last performances

It’ll be a bittersweet night at the Stampede Corral this October when Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir take to the ice for one of their last performances.

The duo stole the hearts of Canadians during their stunning, gold-medal-winning routines at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games, though those hearts have become heavy to learn that the pair are planning to retire from the sport.

“It just feels for us like it’s the right time to say goodbye but we’re still loving and enjoying the sport as much as we always have,” said Moir in an announcement earlier this month.

“Thank you so much for your unwavering support. It truly has meant the world to us and you know, we’re in such good hands in Canada,” said Virtue. “The next generation of skaters is going to blaze new trails, break all of our records, and we can’t wait to cheer them on.”

Their time on the ice is not over quite yet, however, as their cross-Canada Rock the Rink tour kicks off this October.

Alongside Virtue and Moir will be Olympian Patrick Chan, as well as Canadians Kaetlyn Osmond and Elvis Stojko, Olympic Medalist Carolina Kostner, US National Champion Jeremy Abbott, and Italian World Champions Anna Cappellini and Luca Lanotte.

The skaters will be performing in Calgary on Wednesday, October 16.
