SUM SUM: Pop-up dim sum extravaganza headed to Calgary this September

Calling all dim sum lovers: Mark your calendars for the first ever pop-up dim sum extravaganza headed to Calgary this September.

Taking place at Commonwealth Bar & Stage (731 10th Avenue SW), SUM SUM is a modern dim sum experience aimed at satisfying the belly with various types of steamed buns.

The event will run over three non-consecutive days (September 4, 11, and 18). Each day will have its own theme. Enter The Dumpling will take place on September 4 (there are no more reservations available for this event, however, walk-ins welcome), Crouching Gai Lan Hidden Wonton will take place on September 11, and Ginger Beef in the Bronx will take place on September 18.

Some of the featured menu items will include Soup Dumplings (aka xiaolongbao), Szechuan Chili Eggplant, Togarashi Fried Chicken, and Ginger Beef Won Tacos.

Aaron Ellard and Zander Hamm are the creators of SUM SUM; both dim sum enthusiasts have worked in Calgary’s hospitality industry for many years.
