Subway is the latest chain to reveal plans to eliminate plastic straws in Canada.
The build-your-own sandwich company has committed to removing all plastic straws from their 3,200 stores across the country in 2019.

This move is a response to the United Nation’s recent campaign to eliminate major sources of marine litter, such as single-use plastic products by 2022.
Subway has worked to design their packaging to be 100% recyclable, compostable, or biodegradable over the past decade, the removal of plastic straws will be another step in their mission to help with environmental change.
The chain will be replacing the plastic straws with paper ones.
