11 photos of Studio Bell's opening weekend

Housing a performance hall, three recording spaces, classrooms, and museum, Calgary’s Studio Bell is a one-of-a-kind facility in North America.

The building’s architecture is inspired by Canadian landscape and instruments, and each floor has a theme. Large, empty spaces help the acoustics of the building, and all of the walls are concave or convex and clad in glazed terracotta.

The best part? The 4,000 square-foot performance hall can be converted from a more intimate space, to a larger space should the need arise.

In case you didn’t make it out to Studio Bell’s opening weekend, here are 11 photos that showcase the new space in all its stunning glory.

Open this weekend! @nmc_canada had the chance to see this amazing building twice now. #studiobell #yyc #calgary #music

What a great day @nmc_canada. I’ve been driving by this behemoth daily since they first starting construction and I felt a great sense of accomplishment and pride for all the hard working people who had a hand in its creation. It’s absolutely stunning, inside and out. I felt very fortunate to perform on day one. I can only imagine the caliber of artists and performances that will grace this building in the future. . The cross between interactive/educational exhibits with incredibly rare music artifacts (Elton John’s piano??!) and top shelf performance spaces makes this a destination worth checking out. Never mind the studio spaces and gear available to musicians in the future! . The positive energy and buzz was palpable today and I think we, as Calgarians, should feel lucky and proud to have this in our downtown core. The mix of new developments in @eastvillageyyc and surrounding areas is pretty exciting as I imagine a downtown core that is vibrant and populated after 5pm, unlike the ghost town it’s been for years. . Well done, Andrew Mosker and your entire team. And, special thanks to @jasonvalleau for treating the musicians so well and making us feel welcome! . #whereisBT #studiobell #NMC #YYC
