A snowfall warning was issued for Calgary and its surrounding area Monday morning, with forecasts predicting up to 15 cm of snow.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued the warning just before 8 am, calling for localized amounts of 10 to 15 cm expected.

“Heavy snow will fall this morning and ease during the day. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas,” the warning stated.

“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.”

Photos shared on social media showed a hefty blanket of snow gripping the city, as well as some traffic hiccups.

Other areas under a snowfall warning Monday morning include Airdrie, Cochrane, Canmore, Three Hills, Diamond Valley, and High River.
