A new park is on the way in the southeast Calgary community of Seton, with construction set to begin in 2027.
The 6.4-hectare space between Seton Drive SE and Seton Park Road SE will transform from its current informal use into a fully developed regional park with specialized amenities and open space.

Based on public feedback, the final concept includes a variety of features for all ages and interests, including pathways, gardens, seating areas, a parking lot, toboggan hill, gathering and event spaces, a maze, play area, multi-use game courts and a teen space.Ā
Regional parks, like this one, are designed to support longer durations of stay, accommodate a range of activities, and serve multiple communities, unlike other community parks.
āRegional parks are required in southeast Calgary to support current and future population growth in the area. This is an exciting new park that will offer the surrounding communities social, recreational, and leisure amenities such as pathways, parks, and greenspaces,” the city said on its website.

Funding for the first stage of the project, which focuses on creating the master plan of the park, has been provided by the ENMAX Legacy Park Program. This program supports the planning, building, and maintenance of new regional park spaces, as well as the upkeep of parks.
Master planning of the park is nearly complete, and is getting ready to move on to the second step of the timeline, the detailed design phase, which is scheduled for 2025-2026.Ā
The project has been heavily shaped by community involvement, with the city actively engaging with residents of the community and gathering feedback to incorporate into the park.
Construction is expected to take place in 2027-2028, with the park opening for public use in 2028.Ā
