Calgary is getting a plant-filled rooftop bar with stunning downtown views

A new rooftop bar is coming to Calgary, and it looks epic.

While specific details around The Rooftop YYC are still under wraps, it appears that the Ceili’s Downtown team is responsible for bringing this stunning spot to the city.

Sprung Structures constructed the massive tent that’s now home to The Rooftop YYC on top of Calgary’s 5th Avenue TD Canada Trust building.

We’re not saying it’s the same thing, but this place definitely gives off vibes similar to the Nashville North and Cowboy’s Dancehall event tents that the Calgary Stampede is famous for – and hopefully it’s just as much fun.

The Rooftop YYC is packed with tables, bench-style seating, booths, and bars, and it looks like it’s even set up to accommodate a stage. Transparent panels on the tent’s roof are sure to offer city views and a glimpse of the night sky.

Twinkly lights, neon signs, wooden finishes, and tons of plants top off the decor and create a spot that promises to become one of the hottest nightlife venues in the city.

Due to the pandemic, The Rooftop YYC’s opening has been delayed (rumour has it, it was originally set to launch last summer); however, the venue has hosted a few small, private events in the meantime. These included the “Brett Brett Xmas” benefit concert broadcast virtually over the holidays, hosted by Brett Kissel and W. Brett Wilson.

A grand opening date hasn’t been announced yet, but we’re hoping it’s soon.

“The higher you climb, the better the view,” The Rooftop YYC said in an Instagram post. That couldn’t be more accurate, and we can’t wait to see what the views are like from this new spot.
