This part of Calgary is where you'll find the least expensive rent

If you’re trying to save on rent in Calgary, a recent report highlights some areas worth considering if you’re looking to add to your bank account.
The liv.rent report provides rental insights for January across Calgary and Edmonton, including average rates for furnished and unfurnished units, and it’s especially helpful for Calgary renters searching for a deal.
In January, the average rent for an unfurnished one-bedroom unit in Calgary dropped by $46, bringing the monthly cost to $1,567 — a $189 decrease over the past six months.

When you break it down by district, Northeast Calgary has the lowest rent for an unfurnished one-bedroom at $1,519. That’s followed by Northwest Calgary at $1,554 and City Centre at $1,581.
The two most expensive areas in Calgary for renters are Southwest YYC, with an unfurnished one-bedroom going for an average of $1,581, and Southeast YYC takes the cake at $1,596.

Looking at the city as a whole, the average monthly rent for an unfurnished one-bedroom unit has decreased by -2.86%, renting for an average of $1,567 this month. Prices for furnished, one-bedroom units increased this month by -0.92% to a new average cost of $1,712 a month.
At present, furnished units cost an average of $145 more per month to rent than unfurnished units.
