Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills to make face coverings mandatory

Two national grocery retailers have added their names to the growing list of businesses that require patrons to wears masks or face coverings when shopping.

On Saturday, No Frills and the Real Canadian Superstore posted near-identical messages on social media saying that face coverings would be required in all of the grocers’ locations, starting August 29.

“We appreciate your support as we work together to stop the spread of COVID-19,” the messages said.

Both retail brands are owned by Loblaw Companies Limited, which has other major chains like Shoppers Drugmart, Loblaws, and more included in its portfolio.

At time of writing, these other brands have not made masks mandatory within all of their locations nor are there posts to social media indicating the change is coming. Some stores do have face-covering policies, and Loblaw keeps a list of all specific stores and their requirements.

Starting Saturday August 29, 2020 masks or face coverings will be mandatory at all NOFRILLS® locations. We appreciate your support as we work together to stop the spread of COVID-19.
