Raptors re-sign Fred VanVleet to 4-year, $85 million contract
Fred VanVleet bet on himself, and now he’s doubling down with the Toronto Raptors.
The free agent guard has decided to stay with the Raptors, according to a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania, signing a four-year deal worth $85 million.

The fourth year of VanVleet’s new deal is a player option, Charania adds.
The 26-year-old undrafted guard out of Wichita State has improved in all four of his seasons with the Raptors, rising from the G League to become an important player off the bench, to last season establishing himself as an every game starter.
VanVleet said he wanted to “get paid,” after he hit career highs in average points (17.6), assists (6.6), rebounds (3.8), and steals (1.9), and he certainly accomplished that. But by staying with Toronto, VanVleet gets the assurance of remaining with a team that fits him like a glove.
Next up on the Raptors’ to do list is re-signing Serge Ibaka, who also became a free agent on Friday.
