
A brand-new park is opening up in Calgary soon, and we got an early look at what Calgarians can expect, including a MASSIVE slide.
Radio Park, situated in the West District community, spans over eight acres of land and features numerous amenities, including Calgary’s tallest slide.

The new park features plazas, green spaces, public art, an amphitheatre, a stormwater pond, a basketball court, pathways, a dog park, seating areas, and a playground.

The playground was developed by Rocky View Play, a company that designs and builds nature-based play structures.
According to their website, the playground at Radio Park is an epic adventure playground complete with zip lines, a variety of swings, musical elements, climbing features and the tallest (free/public) slide in Calgary.

At the centre of the park, there is a massive stormwater pond, featuring a stunning water wall. It is surrounded by pathways and overlooks, creating a scenic space for visitors to enjoy.

Right beside the pond sits the park’s amphitheatre, a central gathering spot perfect for concerts, festivals, and community events.

The grand opening will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Radio Park, 775 78th St. SW, in the West District.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. to officially mark the opening of the park, and family-friendly activities, including live music at the amphitheatre, a Barkside dog agility show, and soccer demos with the Wild FC, will run from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The park will serve as a year-round destination for residents of the West District and Calgarians alike, offering a combination of active recreation, leisure space, and community that will draw in visitors by turning public space and stormwater management into a recreational destination.
