Premium movie theatre coming to Landmark Cinemas in Edmonton

Landmark Cinemas has just announced a brand-new premium theatre coming to Grove on 17 in Edmonton’s Tamarack neighbourhood.

Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2019 with completion expected for early Summer 2020, according to a release from Landmark.

The theatre will include luxury leather seats that feature full motorized reclining to increase personal space and comfort.

Bill Walker, Chief Executive Officer of Landmark Cinemas, stated in the release that experiencing a movie on the big screen in the comfort of a powered recliner seat is simply an incredible entertainment experience.

“We are thrilled to bring our luxury recliner movie-going experience to Grove On 17 and are confident that movie lovers in Tamarack, and the surrounding areas, will make this their movie-going destination,” he said.

According to the release, the stadium-style seating will offer complimentary reserved seating and will also feature a state-of-the-art Barco laser projector, providing a dynamic range of colours and sharp images that are described as “an unsurpassed presentation experience.”

The eight-screen theatre will be located at Grove on 17 and, in conjunction with the retail space in the surrounding areas, the combined space will bring the area to a total of one million square feet of mixed-use development space.

The theatre is slated to open in early Summer 2020, just in time for the new the Fast and the Furious movie or the new Scooby-Doo instalment. Whatever floats your boat reclines your seat!
