One person was left dead in Penbrooke Meadows on Sunday following what police believe to have been a shooting incident.

A January 12 release from the Calgary Police Service states that officers had responded to reports of a shooting at a home on the 500 block of Penworth Way SE in Penbrooke Meadows at around 12:30 pm that same day.

Once they arrived, they report finding one person in critical, life-threatening condition.

That person was declared deceased shortly after the officers’ arrival, according to law enforcement.

A man was taken into custody at the scene, according to the release, with police stating that “this is not a random incident, the people involved are known to each other.”

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has been called in to investigate, though no charges had been laid as of the Sunday release.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service’s non-emergency line of 403-266-1234.

Tips can also be left anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or through their website.
