The Pie Hole
This “proper pie shop” sells pies in-house as well as makes pie by pre-order. The family-run Pie Hole is known for their Aussie beef pies and Steak & Kidney, as well as their lemon meringue and coconut cream, and their delectable butter crusts. Heads up–the shop is closed Mondays and Tuesdays (for pie-makin’!) so make sure you plan your visit and order accordingly.

Pie Cloud
Kensington’s Pie Cloud has a fun retro-diner feel, and a great selection of housemade pies. They’re so much about pie that pi itself (aka 3.14) is in their address! Their menu is split savoury and sweet, and within that, pie or not pie. Signature choices are the Boston Chowder Pie, Sweet Addiction Pie, Ultimate Apple Pie, and their outrageous Marshmallow Mermaid Pie. Closed Mondays.

Blackfoot Truckstop Diner
This is your classic no frills diner, specializing in heaping plates of stick-to-your-ribs grub. An enduring cult classic in Inglewood, no matter if you’re having a plate of pork chops or the Clubhouse sandwich, save room for their mile-high lemon meringue pie, or any other slice on offer, like their fruit pies or their “world famous” Flapper Pie (a Canadian creation marrying custard and meringue topping).

Simple Simon Pies
You’ll have to do a little legwork to get a hold of Simple Simon Pies’ creations–they sell at regional farmers’ markets and Calgary’s Co-op stores. When it comes to savoury pies that eat like a meal, they’ve got quiche, savoury pies (Butter Chicken pie!), and vegetarian and gluten-free options, too. On the sweet side, one of the most popular at Simple Simon is their Strawberry-Rhubarb.

Pies Plus Cafe
They put pie in their name, and Calgarians have been putting Pies Plus’ pies in their bellies for over 20 years. “So many pies, so little time” is their motto, and at the top of their impressive menu. Sure, you can get Apple or Cherry, but you can also go wild and try Bluetoon, Dream Cream, Flameberry, Stampeder, or Scary Berry–if you dare! They’re closed Sunday and Monday.
