There's a petition to make John Scott the Calgary Stampede Parade Marshal

John Scott mania isn’t over yet.

There’s a petition to make NHL All-Star Game MVP John Scott the Parade Marshal at this year’s Calgary Stampede.

I’m not kidding.

Scott, who is from Alberta, captured the hearts of everyone after his heartfelt article in the Player’s Tribune last week.

So when someone from the NHL calls me and says, “Do you think this is something your kids would be proud of?”

… That’s when they lost me.

That was it, right there. That was the moment.

Because, while I may not deserve to be an NHL All-Star, I know I deserve to be the judge of what my kids will — and won’t — be proud of me for.

What started out as a joke became a true underdog story. His story in the Player’s Tribune was titled “A Guy Like Me” and you know what? He became the ‘Everyman’.

The story got better when Scott scored two goals on Sunday and was named All-Star MVP.

So now Q107 and the Jeff and Sarah Show are pushing for one more honour. They want John Scott to be named the Stampede Parade Marshal this summer, and they’ve started a petition to try to make it happen.

Born in Alberta, John Scott is THE MAN and should lead the 2016 Calgary Stampede parade. The hero of the NHL All Star Game, John Scott is the captain of the winning Pacific Division and won the MVP Award.

The epitome of a classy professional athlete, get this man a White Hat and a horse and let’s bring him to Calgary. Yeehaw! Yahoo! – The Jeff and Sarah Show, Q107 Calgary

I kind of thought the Scott story, as great as it was, was over and we could get back to our lives. Apparently not.

We’ll see what the people have to say.
