Petition asking Tim Hortons to make the switch to compostable cups

Mount Royal Students have created a petition online asking Tim Hortons to make the switch to compostable cups.

The petition reads:

We love our world and we want you to join us in protecting it. So we are asking you, as a Canadian icon and leading brand, to help us make a change. While you have stated that your hot beverage cups are recyclable, you have also stated that it is a challenge to find recycling programs that will actually accept and process them. From experience, we know that these cups end up in the landfill – they are not recycled.

The petition says that in Calgary, alone, there are roughly 337,000 disposable coffee cups that get thrown out every single day.

At the time of writing the petition already had more than 51,500 supporters. If you think Tim Hortons should change their cups to be more environmentally friendly, get on board by signing the online petition.
