Canadian clothing brand offering discounts in exchange for food bank donations

Mar 27 2020, 3:46 pm

A popular Toronto-based clothing brand has launched a new initiative to help hungry Canadians during the pandemic.

Peace Collective is paying it forward by offering clients a 20% discount for any customer who donates food to the clothing company’s partner food banks.

“We have found that one of the biggest impacts of COVID-19 has been to our food banks,” says Peace Collective’s Roman Hessary, in an email to Daily Hive. “The increased demand for food combined with a decrease in volunteers due to self-isolation has made it almost impossible for these critical organizations to operate.”

The company says it is “doing its part” by also providing three meals to Canadians in need through every piece of clothing sold from its Home is collection.

The company’s initiative is working with the following food banks in seven cities across Canada:

  • Toronto – Daily Bread Food Bank
  • Vancouver – Greater Vancouver Food Bank
  • Edmonton – Edmonton’s Food Bank
  • Calgary – Calgary Food Bank
  • Ottawa – Ottawa Food Bank
  • Montreal – Moisson Montreal
  • Halifax – Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank

To be eligible for the 20% discount, customers are asked to post a screenshot of their donation through their Instagram or simply message Peace Collective the confirmation.
