Parks Canada delays launch of online reservation service for 2021

Parks Canada announced that it will push back the launch of its online reservation service until the spring of next year due to COVID-19.

The service allows visitors to book campsites, accommodations, and experiences, such as interpretive guided hikes, at 38 national parks, national historic sites, and national marine conservation areas across the country.

In a press release, Parks Canada said that reservations will now open in April 2021 instead of January. Once launched, visitors will be able to make reservations for trips between May 2021 and March 2022.

Parks Canada said the change would allow visitors to make more informed decisions about their vacation plans for the summer.

It will also provide the government agency with more time to make changes to campsites and experiences that may be necessary due to COVID-19.

Affected parks include British Columbia’s Glacier National Park, Ontario’s Bruce Peninsula, and Banff in Alberta.

Reservations are already open for national parks that offer winter and early spring camping, and visitors can book dates until the end of March 2021.

“Parks Canada is asking Canadians to be cautious, observe travel restrictions, and respect the guidance of public health experts,” they said. “Parks Canada continues to monitor and adapt to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in order to offer visitors a safe and enjoyable experience.”
