Here's what's open and closed on Christmas Day in Calgary
It’s hard to believe that Christmas Day is just around the corner, and with so much to do, you might not have had time to plan too far ahead.
Calgary will have many closures on Christmas Day and some scheduled adjustments to other services. However, if you’re looking for something fun to do, a handful of great activities will be open on Christmas Day.

Libraries across the city will be closed on Christmas Day, with many open until 5 pm on Christmas Eve.

There will be no changes to waste services on Saturday, December 24 (Christmas Eve); however, there will be no pickup on Christmas Day, so if you have Wednesday pickup, please make sure your bin(s) are accessible on Tuesday, December 24 instead. The city will be providing pickup either the day before or the day after the holiday.
All landfills will be closed in the city on Christmas Day, to see their scheduled hours click here.
Parking is free in on-street ParkPlus zones on Christmas Day. Weekend rates will apply to all Calgary parking parkades and surface lots. Regular rates will be in effect at Calgary Zoo, TELUS Spark, and Heritage Park.

On Christmas Day and Boxing Day, buses, Ctrains, and On Demand will operate on a Sunday level of service.

Malls across the city will be closed on Christmas Day, including Chinook Centre, The Core, Marlborough, Southcentre, Cross Iron Mills, and Market Mall. They will also be operating on limited hours on Christmas Eve.
Leisure centres and amenities

City pools, skating rinks, and leisure centres like Southland Leisure Centre and Village Square will be closed on Christmas Day.
Starbucks

Many Starbucks locations across Calgary will be open on Christmas Day. Typically, at least one or two locations in each of the city’s districts will be open, so be sure to call the locations nearest to you before heading out!

Landmark Cinemas will be open on Christmas Day; check its website for more details on showtimes. On the other hand, Cineplex will have a select number of screenings on Wednesday, December 25. A list can be found on the Cineplex website.
