As recommended by health officials, if you choose to participate in events outside of your home, please adhere to COVID-19 health and safety measures, including proper physical distancing, mask-wearing, and frequent handwashing. If you are sick, please stay home.

Murals and music combine with an augmented reality app to create a one-of-a-kind art experience in Inglewood.

The newly-launched Northern Reflections runs until March 14.

The exhibits are viewed from the outdoors and available to the public with the download of a free smartphone app.

Teams made up of painters, animators, and musicians have commandeered the windows of 11 businesses in Calgary’s oldest neighbourhood to create an augmented art tour.

For those not familiar with augmented reality (AR), it’s a technology that creates a virtual enhancement to what is already there by superimposing a digital image onto the user’s view of the physical world.

Users can download the Augle app on their smartphones and then hit the streets of Inglewood to explore this interactive experience.

Simply activate the AR camera within the app, point your device at the artwork, and see augmented reality in action.

The unique murals on this self-guided art tour have been matched with tunes produced by both local and international musicians to create a fun mash up of art, music, and local businesses.

Art installations are in business windows running along 9th Avenue, between 10th Street and 13th Street SE.

The exhibition is a partnership between the Inglewood BIA and MAUD Collective, who, alongside a panel of judges, determined the artists that created the augmented reality murals around Inglewood.

Inglewood’s Northern Reflections is a part of Chinook Blast, Calgary’s newest mid-winter art roundup that celebrates the season and shows the world that we’re not afraid of a little cold!
