Go on a starlit night hike in Calgary this Halloween

Oct 20 2020, 5:06 pm

Anyone hoping for a quieter, more peaceful Halloween this year may be in luck.

The Weaselhead-Glenmore Park Preservation Society is hosting a full moon evening and night hike this October 31, escorting participants along a four to five kilometre walk through Weaselhead Park under the light of the full moon.

Guides will provide information about Calgary’s nocturnal creatures such as owls, flying squirrels, and bats as they make their way along the paved pathways and uneven hiking trails of the park.

COVID-19 measures will be in place, and attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather — though Halloween costumes are also more than welcome.

Earlier walks have been added this year for those who want to get the hike in before the sun sets, with the events running from 1 to 3 pm, 5 to 7 pm, and 7:30 to 9:30 pm.

Spots are still available, though limited, and those hoping to attend can register online for $5.
