Go for a late skate on New Year's Eve at Olympic Plaza before the midnight fireworks

Clear your calendar this December 31, because you don’t want to miss this stunning fireworks display.

The City of Calgary is putting on an explosive celebration to ring in the new year, though you may need to bundle up to get a good view.

Olympic Plaza will be extending its skating hours until midnight, which also makes for an ideal vantage point to see the Calgary Tower fireworks display that will start the new year off on the right foot.

“We are very happy to host another amazing fireworks show to ring in 2020. Wherever you are in the city, we hope you look up to see the spectacular sparks of colour light up the sky,” said Teresa Byrne, Superintendent of Arts and Culture, in the release.

“Our partners contribute to the success of celebrations every year. Thanks to their continued involvement there will be free, low-cost, fun and exciting New Year’s Eve entertainment for Calgarians and visitors to participate in.”

A live stream of the fireworks will be available at the City of Calgary’s website for anyone not willing to brave the cold for a good vantage point.

Not a bad way to send off 2019, if we do say so ourselves.
