14 New Year's Eve Calgary 2016 parties to check out

Are you planning to leave the house for this years New Year’s Eve? Well, if you like parties on NYE, there is something for everyone, whether you like to celebrate early or stay up the entire night, it’s really up to you and your lifestyle.

Here are some suggestions on where you can spend your New Year’s Eve 2016, organized by price:

Events for $50 or less

New Year’s Eve Family Dance Party

  • What: Come to downtown Calgary, wear anything that glows, and boogie down to bring in the New Year. The Municipal Building will become a party with stilt walkers, a magician, music, fire spinners and more. A kids count down will occur at 9 p.m.
  • Where: Calgary Municipal Building – 800 MacLeod Trail SW
  • Time: 7 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Age: All ages

New Year’s Eve Outdoor Celebration

  • What: Bring your skates or borrow some from the onsite Skate Shack where the festivities start with ice sculptures, live carving demonstrations, storytelling, bonfire songs by the fire pit, music provided by a DJ and more! Fireworks are expected this year with synchronized music, if weather permits.
  • Where: Olympic Plaza – 228 8 Avenue SE
  • Time: 8 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Age: All Ages

Noon Year’s Eve

  • What: Celebrate New Year’s a little earlier, there will be lots of family fun including live demonstrations and experiences as well as the countdown that will start at 11:45 a.m. ending in a bubble wrap dance party.
  • Where: TELUS Spark – 220 St Georges Drive NE
  • Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Cost: $20 for Adults, $18 for seniors( 65+), $15 youth (13 to 17) and $13 for children (3 to 12)
  • Age: All ages

Zoo Year’s Eve

  • What: Zoolight activities and fires will be occurring and at 8 p.m. there will be a fireworks show to welcome in the New Year.
  • Where: Calgary Zoo – 1300 Zoo Road NE
  • Time: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Cost: $13 for Child ages 3 to 15 and $17 for ages 16 and up
  • Age: All ages

The Unpretentious New Year’s Eve Party

  • What: A perfect simple get together on NYE with good people. You are encouraged to wear jeans or your fanciest Lulu’s and your favourite graphic tee, a prize will be awarded for the best shirt — it should be funny, have a good shock value and inappropriate is encouraged.
  • Where: Side Street Pub and Grill – 1167 Kensington Crescent NW
  • When: 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
  • Cost: $35

  • What: Celebrate the best of 2015 and welcome the new year at CRAFT Beer Market. Choose between the different options available, you could come for the NYE Brewaster’s Dinner and Dance or if you just want to dance the night away then you can do that too.
  • Where: CRAFT Beer Market
  • Time: NYE Brewmaster’s Dinner & Dance at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and NYE Dance at 9:30 p.m.

Classic Hollywood Singles New Year’s Eve Gala

  • What: Feel like a celebrity and get glitzed up in your formal wear to go out for an evening of intrigue, interactive games and adventures. Both singles and couples are invited to this gala – one will wear a white rose if they are single or a red rose if they are in a relationship.

Pampa’s New Year’s Eve 2015

  • What: Welcome in the New Year with delicious food at the Pampa’s New Year’s Eve Dinner. The steak house offers three different meals during the evening at different times but all include 12 cuts of meat, an unlimited salad bar and dessert.

Cheers to New Year’s 2016

  • What: Spend a glamours night in downtown where you will be served up a four-course dinner that includes wine and champagne. Entertainment will be occurring later in the evening featuring Suzie Q nine piece Dance Band finishing of the night with a cheers to the New Year.
