Alberta’s about to get a new place to relax.

Groupe Nordik, the company behind three of Canada’s stunning Nordic-style spas, has announced that they have plans to build their first wellness spa in Alberta.

The 10-acre facility will be located in the development of Harmony, a residential Springbank community located between Banff National Park and Calgary in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, according to a release from Groupe Nordik.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for not only the residents of Harmony, but the neighbouring region and City as well,” said Cary Kienitz, Qualico Communities Associate Director, Development, in the release.

“There are significant benefits that a Groupe Nordik facility offers, not only from the health and wellness perspective, but a focus on business: investing in infrastructure and providing employment opportunities.”

The facility is expected to create around 400 full- and part-time jobs once it opens, bringing in an investment of over $45 million to the community.

Construction is set to begin in 2020 and a tentative opening is projected for 2022.

Groupe Nordik’s spas allow for both silent zones and communal, social areas, with a mixture of cold pools, hot tubs, dry saunas, and relaxation areas.
