In a Wednesday press conference, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said the province has seen 306 new known cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

This brings the province’s known total to 3,401.

He noted that there have also been five new deaths in the province, resulting in a total of 66.

Kenney noted that the increase in positive tests was expected given that the province opened testing to all symptomatic residents last week.

As of April 22, there are 70 Albertans in hospital with coronavirus and 18 in the ICU — two less than yesterday.

A total of 1,310 Albertans have recovered from the virus.
